Little Maia Mi's adventures at home and at play

Maia really does walk!

It's been a really exciting and, sometimes, tough month for li'l Maia.

Firstly, between the end of May and 6th June we moved from our beloved flat in New Cross to our new house in Plumstead.

Secondly, as if getting her own bedroom and loads more space to explore wasn't enough, Maia started walking properly! In fact, our first full day at the house - 7th June - was the day when Maia finally realised that 'letting go' wouldn't mean 'falling down'.

Getting used to a new bedroom and lots of things changing day by day (we are still living out of boxes, but slowly unpacking what we need as we go), never mind the fact that it takes over half an hour's drive or journey by bus and train to get to nursery (when it used to be a five minute walk), is a tough thing when you're little so it's not strange that Maia's had a few disturbed nights.

Those are mainly behind us now, though, and Maia's not merely walking but dancing, spinning (learning all about being dizzy) and trying to jump. Where once she wouldn't let go of my hands, she now won't let me hold her hands at all!

I have some footage somewhere of her actual first walk - but for now here's a link to Maia walking a couple of days later at Faster Than Sound, a really cool music event (Maia's first) which took place in Suffolk, near Aldeburgh, at the historic airbase Bentwaters.

Maia Walks!

NB it's a pretty big quicktime file.

Oh and PS - she does fall right at the end but she was OK so don't worry!
